They say hindsight is 20/20, but no matter the clarity of your vision, it does no good to anyone if you don't open your eyes.
Helen Keller once said that "the most pathetic person in the world is someone who has sight, but has no vision," & I feel apt to believe her. Yesterday I was watching America: The Story of Us, a new series on the History channel, & the extent of my ingratitude was flashed before my eyes. Electricity, plumbing, safety regulations, cars, waste management, desegregation (etc, etc, etc) - all of these I did not recognize as the luxuries they are. I did not realize how much others have suffered that we may not. I know that our time is not without its difficulties - immorality runs rampant, many diseases remain incurable, and people lose hope every day as they let trying circumstances determine their destiny; but all in all our generation is spoiled with opportunities. Opportunities to become, opportunities to invent, opportunities to succeed & grow & flourish lie within our grasp if we but reach out and take them for our own. The reach will require patience, diligence, & a steady hand. It will require freedom from distraction & an unwavering vision of eternal goals. The journey may be long & rocky. The load may be heavy to bare, but keep in mind the master that you serve & if you chose wisely your weight shall be removed & replaced with joy immeasurable.
